Sharyn Maceren was the voice behind the ever-so-catchy hit Dance recording “Hard to Get”. She was just a teen when she composed and recorded the Billboard° charting single. Though the public only knew Sharyn as “the S Factor,” it was simply a matter of time before people would learn about the mysterious girl behind the music.
After releasing a limited edition of her second single named “One and One” under Captaur Records, Sharyn steadily promoted her music at various concerts and events. One live performance in particular caught the attention of producer Glenn Gutierrez. Glenn, who is in no way a stranger to Dance divas, is the man who is responsible for producing hit singles for artists like Jocelyn Enriquez (“A Little Bit of Ecstasy,” “Do You Miss Me”) and M:G (“Sweet Honesty,” “What Do You Remember”). With the desire to work together and after months of heavy negotiating, Sharyn was picked up by Glenn’s record label Planet Hype which was built with partners JP Nebres and Matt Villacarte.
The two completed production for her debut album named “Always Dreamin’” in 2002. The album, which is a combination of all the styles that make Sharyn’s signature sound, is both sophisticated and fun. Consistent with her previous singles, Sharyn proves that she remembers who helped her get to where she is today. At the same time, Always Dreamin’ reveals the talent of a young woman who isn’t afraid to be totally true to herself. Introducing songs with unexpected rhythms, it is evident that she has made music that she, herself, would like to hear.
Sharyn’s sophomore album “Nighttime Land” dove deeper into her sea of styles, swimming from pop to Freestyle to R&B. If Always Dreamin’ was the light, Nighttime land was the dark. Good things happen in the dark. A nineteen minute video sampler wound its way around social networks two months before release. When she appeared on the WILD 94.9 KYLD-FM morning show to promote the new album, the rush of Internet traffic crashed her website. Lead singles “Can U Wait” and “Sweet Nothings” enjoyed radio play around the world.
While her career continues to grow, Sharyn can at least say that she has already made a couple of big dreams come true. One of which, was to hear her songs being played on the highly recognized radio station like KYLD. “It was honestly a dream come true because the great San Francisco Bay Area is my home. For my friends and family to be able to hear my music… that is something that I have just wanted more than anything.”
