The Agony Is Over, Ecstasy Is Here

Friday, 30 Oct 2009 - Number 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Singles chart for six weeks straight, a popular challenge in Dance Dance Revolution DDRMAX2 for the Playstation 2, banned in Malaysia, "A Little Bit of Ecstasy" by Jocelyn Enriquez is a song with history. And for the longest time, you couldn't buy it digitally. The wait is over.

The second single from the indie dance artist's sophomore album exploded onto dance floors and DJ charts in early 1997. Radio came soon after, spreading across the US quickly and into foreign markets after that. It was immediately banned by the Officer In Charge of Censorship in Malaysia, because they mistakenly assumed the title referred to the drug of the same name. A letter by songwriter and producer Glenn Gutierrez explaining that the song is a reverse innuendo, and is actually about love, didn't have any noticeable effect. We like to think they banned it twice.

The song continued to spread into television and movie soundtracks over the next couple of years, including Night at the Roxbury, Just A Kiss (Marisa Tomei), Intimate Betrayal, MTV's Road Rules, HBO's G-String Divas, and many more. Then in 2003, Konami requested the song for an upcoming version of the huge Dance Dance Revolution series, and "A Little Bit Of Ecstasy" lived again.

"This song will be forever and ALWAYS be a club hopping track to make you want to sweat out all your anger and bring out the happiness out of yourself. Did I mention that this is a freaky song too? Listen closely to the lyrics when you have your honey and you too will get to the feel of the club track!"
